Pre-Demo Preparation

A Central Market curbside order will be placed for the demo sample product.

Please pick up the order before your demo begins and bring it to your demo station.

 

What to Bring From Home Bring one of the following heating appliances:

• Toaster oven OR • Electric skillet

 

Additional supplies:

• Extension cord (Central Market usually provides one — except Midway location where you must bring your own)

• Tongs or spatula

• Cutting board

• Knife

• Spoon for sour cream

• Pot holders

• Portion cups

• Napkins

• Gloves

 

Arrival & Store Check-In

 

1. Enter through the main entrance and go to the Information Desk.

2. Tell them you are there to conduct a demo.

3. A Foodie will escort you to your demo station.

4. Have the Foodie sign your Clock-In / Clock-Out form. (Electronic version available upon request.)

 

Demo Setup

 

1. Set up your toaster oven or electric skillet at the demo station.

2. Plug in using the store extension cord (or your own at Midway).

3. Because this is a frozen item, unopened packages cannot be displayed on the table.

4. After opening the product for sampling, display the empty package neatly on the table so guests can easily identify the product in the freezer section.

5. Place sour cream in a small container kept on bagged ice.

 

Bagged Ice Requirements

• Ice must be purchased from the produce department.

• Ice must remain bagged (do not place food directly on ice).

• Place sour cream container in a bowl or container sitting on top of the bagged ice to keep it properly chilled.

 

Cooking Instructions Oven Method (Toaster Oven)

1. Preheat oven to 400°F.

2. Place frozen pancakes on a baking sheet.

3. Bake for 8–10 minutes.

4. Flip pancakes.

5. Bake an additional 8–10 minutes, or until cooked through.

6. Carefully remove and allow to cool slightly before cutting.

 

Pan Fry Method (Electric Skillet)

1. Preheat skillet over medium heat.

2. Add enough oil to lightly coat the bottom of the pan.

3. Place frozen pancakes in the pan.

4. Cook 4–6 minutes per side or until cooked through. Each pancake should yield approximately 6 samples. Cut into small pieces appropriate for sampling.

 

Sampling Procedure

1. Place one piece of potato pancake into a portion cup.

2. Ask the guest if they would like sour cream.

3. If yes, add a small amount of sour cream on top or alongside the sample.

4. Serve with a plastic fork or napkin.

5. Offer warm samples to guests passing by.
