DEMO OBJECTIVE

Introduce shoppers to United Own Brands products by featuring a complete recipe made entirely with Own Brands items. Drive trial, educate customers on simple preparation, increase multi-item basket sales, and highlight quality and value across frozen, refrigerated, and center store departments.

PRE-DEMO PREPARATION

• Review full cooking instructions prior to arrival

• Review The United Family of Stores demo policies

• Print and bring Time/Temp Log

• Ensure all equipment and supplies are packed and ready Shape

 

PRODUCT VERIFICATION & PURCHASE (REQUIRED)

Retrieve 1 unit of Signature Select Buffalo Wing Sauce from center store shelf.

Take a selfie in-store with the product and text to Karen & Lexi.

Take product to the Front Service Desk and charge to U Card.

Text photo of receipt to Karen & Lexi.

Save receipt for demo report upload.

Note: Any additional product opened during demo must be purchased at end of demo using U Card and receipt submitted with report.

 

 

WHAT TO BRING FROM HOME

All demo supplies must be brought from home except DFW store locations.

 

Required Equipment:

Electric skillet with lid

Food thermometer (required)

Extension cord

Portion cups

Gloves

Napkins

Sample forks or picks

Tablecloth

Allergen Sign

Apron (no logos)

Hat or hair covering (no logos)

Name badge

Food Handler’s Card

Smartphone

Ice & Cold Holding Supplies:

Ice bucket or bowl for tabletop display Bagged ice (purchased in-store) 

 

ARRIVAL & STORE CHECK-IN

Check in with Store Manager or Manager on Duty.

Inform them you are sampling United Own Brands products.

Confirm demo location and nearest power outlet.

Verify product locations in frozen, refrigerated, and center store grocery.

 

DEMO SETUP

Cover table fully with tablecloth.

Do NOT place frozen meatballs directly on table.

Once meatball bags are opened for sampling, display empty packaging neatly on table.

Display 6–8 bottles of each shelf-stable item neatly on table for purchase visibility.

Bagged Ice Procedure:

• Purchase bagged ice from store.

• Place ice inside an ice bucket or bowl on the demo table.

• Opened cream cheese and opened sauces must be stored on ice at all times. • Keep containers clean and wiped down as needed.

Display Allergen Sign.

Organize cups, napkins, utensils, thermometer, and trash neatly.

Plug in equipment using extension cord.

Take photo of completed demo setup with you behind table.

Wash hands thoroughly.

Put on gloves.

Opening Inventory Count:

Record opening inventory of all SKUs.

FOOD SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

• All cooked product must reach 165°F before serving.

• Verify with thermometer and record on Time/Temp Log.

• Do NOT serve undercooked product.

TIME AS A PUBLIC HEALTH CONTROL (TPHC)

Any item removed from refrigeration must have the date and time clearly written on the packaging or recorded on a log.

• Cold items may be held without temperature control for up to 4 hours.

• After 4 hours, any remaining product must be discarded.

• Keep clear notation visible for store inspection if needed.

SAMPLING PROCEDURE

Serve ½ meatball per sample in a portion cup.

Offer blue cheese dip as optional add-on.

Rotate fresh batches as needed.

Encourage full recipe purchase.

CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT

Opening Line: “Hi! Would you like to try our Buffalo Turkey Meatballs made entirely with United Own Brands?”

CLEANUP & WRAP-UP

Dispose of trash properly.

Clean and sanitize demo area.

Remove ice and properly discard melt water.

Closing Inventory Count: Record ending inventory of all SKUs.

Purchase any additional opened product using U Card.

Upload receipt with demo report.

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

Submit demo report per Four Star procedures.

Submit opening and closing inventory counts.

Submit completed Time/Temp Log.

Submit demo setup and action photos.

Upload all receipts.
