DEMO OBJECTIVE

Introduce shoppers to Dumpling Daughter’s restaurant-quality frozen dumplings and signature soy sauces, drive product trial, educate customers on premium ingredients and preparation ease, and increase in-store sales in both Frozen and Shelf categories.

PRE-DEMO PREPARATION

  • Review full cooking instructions prior to arrival.

  • Review The United Family of Stores demo policies.

  • Print and bring Time/Temp Log.

  • Ensure all equipment and supplies are packed and ready.

PRODUCT VERIFICATION & PURCHASE (REQUIRED)

  • Retrieve 1 bottle of any Dumpling Daughter sauce from the shelf.

  • Take a selfie in-store with the product and text to Karen & Lexi.

  • Take the product to the Front Service Desk and charge to U Card.

  • Text photo of receipt to Karen & Lexi.

  • Save receipt for demo report upload.

Note:
Any additional product opened during the demo must be purchased at the end of the demo using U Card and receipt submitted with report.

WHAT TO BRING FROM HOME

All demo supplies must be brought from home except DFW store locations, which will have equipment & disposable demo supplies in the demo supply area.

Required Equipment:

  • Electric skillet or large sauté pan

  • Lid for pan

  • Cooking oil

  • Food thermometer (required)

  • Extension cord

  • Portion cups

  • Gloves

  • Napkins

  • Sample forks

  • Tablecloth

  • Allergen Sign

  • Apron (no logos)

  • Hat or hair covering (no logos)

  • Name badge

  • Food Handler’s Card

  • Smartphone (photos & reporting only)

Dress Code:

  • Long pants or jeans (no holes)

  • Collared shirt or professional top

  • Closed-toe shoes

  • No hoodies, tank tops, or sleeveless shirts

ARRIVAL & STORE CHECK-IN

  • Check in with Store Manager or Manager on Duty.

  • Inform them you are sampling Dumpling Daughter dumplings and sauces.

  • Confirm demo location and nearest power outlet.

  • Verify dumpling location in freezer and sauce location on shelf.

DEMO SETUP

  • Cover table fully with tablecloth.

  • Do NOT place frozen dumplings on table.

  • Once a box is opened for sampling, display the empty box neatly on table.

  • Display all three sauce flavors clearly on table.

  • Display Allergen Sign.

  • Organize cups, napkins, forks, thermometer, and trash neatly.

  • Plug in electric skillet using extension cord.

  • Retrieve one balloon from floral department and tie it to the freezer door where Dumpling Daughter dumplings are located.

  • Take photo of completed demo setup with you behind the table.

  • Wash hands thoroughly.

  • Put on gloves.

Opening Inventory Count:
Count and record opening inventory of all SKUs.

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS — PAN SEAR FROM FROZEN

Dumplings are frozen raw and must be fully cooked.

Crispy Bottom Steam-Fry Method:

  1. Preheat skillet over medium heat.

  2. Add 1–2 tablespoons cooking oil.

  3. Place frozen dumplings flat-side down in skillet.

  4. Add enough water to cover 1/3 of the dumplings

  5. Immediately cover with lid.

  6. Steam 5–6 minutes until water has evaporated.

  7. Remove lid and cook 1–2 additional minutes to re-crisp bottom.

Food Safety Requirement:

  • All dumplings must reach an internal temperature of 165°F.

  • Insert thermometer into center of dumpling filling.

  • Verify 165°F before serving.

  • Record temperature on Time/Temp Log.

  • Log each new batch prepared.

  • Do NOT serve undercooked product.

SAMPLING PROCEDURE

Flavor Rotation:

  • Rotate through all three dumpling flavors throughout the demo.

  • Serve all three sauce flavors continuously during the entire demo.

Serving Steps:

  1. Cut dumplings into halves or thirds.

  2. Ask guest which sauce they would like to try.

  3. Pour a small amount of desired sauce into portion cup.

  4. Place dumpling piece on top of sauce inside cup.

  5. Insert fork into portion cup.

  6. Place completed sample at front of demo station for guest to pick up.

Engagement During Sampling:

  • Share key selling points while guest tastes.

  • Ask guest which sauce they prefer.

  • Ask if they would like to try another sauce.

  • If you are cooking more than one flavor of dumpling, ask if guest would like to try another flavor of dumplings.

  • If guest enjoys product, ask them to purchase!

CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

  • Submit demo report per Four Star procedures.

  • Submit opening and closing inventory counts.

  • Submit completed Time/Temp Log.

  • Submit demo setup and action photos.

  • Upload all receipts.
