DEMO OBJECTIVE

 

Showcase The United Family Own Brands by demonstrating a simple, nostalgic, crowd‑pleasing Ambrosia Salad using Signature Select and Lucerne products. Encourage multi‑item basket purchases and inspire guests with an easy dessert or holiday side dish.

PRE‑DEMO PREPARATION

 

Review full recipe instructions prior to arrival.

Review The United Family of Stores demo policies.

Print and bring Time/Temp Log.

Ensure all equipment and supplies are packed and ready.

 

PRODUCT VERIFICATION & PURCHASE (REQUIRED)

 

Retrieve 1 Lucerne Sour Cream from shelf (UPC: 00021130073108).

Take a selfie in‑store with the sour cream and text to Karen & Lexi.

Take the product to the Front Service Desk and charge to U Card.

Text photo of receipt to Karen & Lexi.

Save receipt for demo report upload.

 

Note: All opened product must be purchased at end of demo using U Card and receipt submitted with report.

 

WHAT TO BRING FROM HOME

 

All demo supplies must be brought from home except DFW store locations, which will have equipment & disposable demo supplies in the demo supply area.

Large mixing bowl

Mixing spoon

Cutting board

Sharp knife

Portion cups (2 oz)

Gloves

Napkins

Sample forks

Tablecloth

Allergen Sign

Apron (no logos)

Hat or hair covering (no logos)

Name badge

Food Handler’s Card

Smartphone (photos & reporting only)

 

Dress Code:

Long pants or jeans (no holes)

Collared shirt or professional top

Closed‑toe shoes

No hoodies, tank tops, or sleeveless shirts

 

ARRIVAL & STORE CHECK‑IN

 

Check in with Store Manager or Manager on Duty. Inform them you are sampling a United Own Brands recipe (Ambrosia Salad). Confirm demo location and nearest power outlet (if needed).

Locate ingredients in‑store (shelf, dairy, canned fruit, baking).

 

DEMO SETUP

 

Cover table fully with tablecloth.

Display ONLY shelf‑stable items on table: canned pineapple, canned mandarin oranges, maraschino cherries, and mini marshmallows.

Do NOT display refrigerated items (whipped topping, sour cream) on table.

Once refrigerated items are opened, open packaging neatly and display empty packaging on table.

Display Allergen Sign.

Organize cups, napkins, forks, thermometer (if needed), and trash neatly.

Take photo of completed demo setup with you behind the table.

Wash hands thoroughly.

Put on gloves.

 

Opening Inventory Count:

 

Record opening inventory of featured items as required.

 

ICE REQUIREMENTS

 

If a product must remain cold, it must be placed on bagged ice per The United Family Food Safety Director.

 

You may obtain bagged ice by:

 

Asking the Market Department

Filling produce bags from the store ice machine

Purchasing a bag of ice using the U Card

 

Place opened refrigerated product on bagged ice.

 

RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS – AMBROSIA SALAD

 

Drain pineapple chunks and mandarin oranges thoroughly.

Add drained pineapple and mandarin oranges to mixing bowl.

Add 1 cup (4 portion cups) Lucerne Sour Cream.

Add 1 full tub Signature Select Extra Creamy Whipped Topping.

Add 2 cups (8 portion cups) Signature Select Mini Marshmallows (or approx. half the bag).

Remove stems from maraschino cherries and slice in halves or thirds; add to bowl.

Gently fold all ingredients together until well combined.

Keep chilled on ice throughout the demo.

 

FOOD SAFETY REQUIREMENT

 

Keep bowl placed over bagged ice at all times.

Record temperatures on the Time/Temp Log (log each batch).

Do NOT serve product that is above safe temperature.

 

SAMPLING PROCEDURE

 

Spoon a small portion of Ambrosia Salad into 2 oz portion cups.

Insert sample fork into each cup.

Place portion cups at the front of the demo station for guests to pick up.

Prepare small batches as needed and keep chilled.

 

CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT

Closing Inventory Count:

 

Record ending inventory of featured items.

 

Purchase Requirement:

 

Purchase any opened product at end of demo using U Card.

Save receipt for upload.

 

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

Submit demo report per Four Star procedures.

Submit opening and closing inventory counts (if required).

Submit completed Time/Temp Log.

Upload demo setup and action photos.

Upload receipts (product verification and any opened product purchased).
