Demo Objective

Introduce guests to Yerba Madre ready-to-drink yerba mate, explain the brand's organic and fair trade story, and encourage guests to compare all three flavors before purchasing their favorite.

Product & Brand Overview

Yerba Madre, formerly Guayakí Yerba Mate, has helped introduce ready-to-drink yerba mate to North America for nearly 30 years. Yerba mate is brewed from the naturally caffeinated leaves of a tree native to South America. These non-carbonated beverages are certified organic, contain 150 mg of caffeine per 15.5 fl oz can, and are made with select fair trade ingredients. The yerba mate is shade-grown and hand-harvested in South America's Atlantic Forest.

DFW Store Locations: Equipment and disposable supplies are available in the designated demo supply area.

Demo Specialists should still bring their apron, hat, tablecloth, ice bucket, allergen sign and Food Handler's Card from home.

Store Arrival & Check-In

1. Check in with Store Management or the Demo Coordinator.

2. Purchase one Yerba Madre beverage with the Divvy card to verify the correct product. Upload the receipt to the Bill Spend & Expense app and save it to upload to the demo report.

3. Take a selfie in-store at the product shelf and text it to Karen & Lexi (do not upload to the report).

4. Take a picture of the shelf to upload to the demo report.

5. Immediately place at least two cans of each flavor in the store freezer so they can chill while you set up the demo station.

6. Gather all demo supplies.

7. Ask the Market Department for bagged ice. If bagged ice is not available, place loose ice in produce bags or purchase a bag of ice with the Divvy card.

Demo Set Up

1. Set up the demo table and cover it with the tablecloth.

2. Count and record opening inventory for Enlighten Mint, Bluephoria and Revel Berry separately.

3. Display the allergen sign.

4. Arrange available product attractively on the table. Display 6–8 cans of each flavor when inventory allows.

5. Fill the ice bucket with bagged ice. Transfer the chilled cans from the freezer to the ice bucket and keep all sampling product on ice throughout the demo.

6. Before washing your hands or opening any product, take a picture of the completed demo station for the demo report.

7. Wash your hands in a designated handwash sink.

8. Open one can of each flavor so all three flavors are available throughout the demo.

9. Pour fresh 1 oz samples as needed and place samples toward the front of the table.

Sampling Procedure

1. Welcome each guest and let them know the beverages contain caffeine.

2. Ask which flavor they would like to try first.

3. Pour a fresh 1 oz sample while sharing the flavor profile and key selling points.

4. Place the sample at the front of the table for the guest to pick up.

5. Ask for feedback and offer another flavor.

6. Encourage guests to compare all three flavors. Recommend Enlighten Mint for a cool, refreshing option, Bluephoria for a smooth berry flavor, or Revel Berry for a brighter, lightly tart berry flavor.

7. Ask which flavor was their favorite.

8. Direct guests to the product display or shelf and encourage purchase.

Clean Up, Reporting & Wrap Up

1. Count and record closing inventory for Enlighten Mint, Bluephoria and Revel Berry separately.

2. Return unopened product to the shelf and dispose of opened sample product appropriately.

3. Purchase any product opened for sampling that was not purchased at the beginning of the demo with the Divvy card.

4. Upload all receipts to the Bill Spend & Expense app and save them to upload to the demo report.

5. Have Store Management sign the required demo paperwork, if applicable.

6. Complete the demo report with opening and closing inventory, sales by flavor, number of guests sampled, guest feedback, comments and all required fields.

7. Upload the shelf photo, completed demo-station photo and all required receipts to the demo report. Do not upload the in-store selfie.

8. Submit the completed demo report before leaving the store.
